Eastham Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary facility that specializes in the treatment of companion animals such as dogs, cats, reptiles, rabbits, and ferrets. We offer general and advanced medical care including wellness exams, preventative care, vaccinations, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, spay and neuter, dentistry, and emergency services.
General Wellness and Preventative Care
We provide wellness examinations and immunizations as the cornerstone of high quality good health care for your pet. We know that it is far easier and safer to prevent medical problems than it is to treat them after they occur. Therefore, we offer routine well-care visits, discussions of your pet’s health, and proper vaccinations to make sure your pet stays healthy and to catch minor problems before they can become major health issues. Our doctors make sure that each and every pet receives individualized wellness care. In addition to a complete physical examination, the care program includes internal parasite testing and prevention, external parasite control, routine immunizations, life-stage blood testing, and discussions of your pet’s behavior. Our attention to detail helps ensure that your pet receives the best care at all times.
Surgical Services
Our highly skilled veterinary team is experienced in the most common surgical procedures. We perform spays and neuters, declaws, tumor removal and biopsy, abdominal surgeries, removal of gastrointestinal foreign bodies and some orthopedic procedures, all under the safest possible anesthetic and with the utmost attention to patient monitoring.
Pain Management
The need to control pain in our pets is a simple, humane principle of veterinary care. Pets in pain suffer. As members of your family, your pets are worthy of the same attention to pain control as every other loved one. Therefore, no surgical or medical procedure can be considered a complete success if your pet is in pain. This means that pets undergoing even the simplest surgeries, such as a spay or neuter, will receive medication to control pain. These medications may be administered at the hospital and may be sent home with the pet. Our veterinary care team feels that it is our responsibility to do our very best to identify and limit the pain felt by your pet.
In-House Diagnostic Laboratory
Our hospital is equipped with an In-House Laboratory that allows our veterinarians to quickly perform diagnostic tests on a variety of body fluids (ear swabs, blood, urine, etc) and other samples (feces, etc) to achieve an accurate and rapid diagnosis. This is especially important in very ill animals and those requiring immediate or emergency treatment. While not all samples can be analyzed in-house; when this capability is combined with our outside laboratory services, a full comprehensive laboratory evaluation is obtained.
Digital Radiology
Our hospital is proud to offer state-of-the-art Digital Radiology Services. Digital x-rays are essentially film-less x-rays. There are many advantages to digital x-rays including a shorter time to take the x-ray, lack of chemicals needed to process an x-ray and less radiation exposure to your pet and veterinarian. These x-rays can also be digitally enhanced for best visualization of a problem. Digital x-rays can easily be copied to disk, magnified or sent to a specialist for evaluation at the press of a button.
In-House Pharmacy
For your convenience, our hospital has a pharmacy, enabling you to pick up your pet’s medications at the time of your visit. While no hospital carries every medication, we keep the most commonly prescribed medications in stock. If your pet requires a medication that we do not carry, call ahead and we may be able to order it for you. Refills on previously prescribed medications should be phoned in at least one day ahead of time to ensure that your order is ready when you arrive.
Dental Care
We offer complete dental care services and products. Dental disease is an often-overlooked threat to the comfort and health of your pet. Because dental disease often has few readily apparent signs, bringing your pet in for a wellness examination is the only way to ensure detection. Following this exam, your veterinarian may recommend a particular dental cleaning schedule, oral care routine, or special treatment based on your pet’s dental health needs. We also use digital dental X-rays to fully examine your pet’s oral and dental health. With this knowledge the best decisions can be made in the treatment of your pet. Dental prophylaxis is performed with your pet under general anesthesia. It involves cleaning the surface of each tooth and scaling below the gumline, where food, bacteria, and tartar build up.
